Sean Yu Wins WSOP Circuit Harrah's Southern California Main Event

The World Series of Poker Circuit made their annual visit to Harrah’s Southern California in Rincon, California as a field of 283 entries participated in the $1,675 Main Event. The tournament attracted 283 entries and created a prize pool of $424,500.
The schedule called for play to end Monday evening, but Day 2 action moved at such a rapid pace, the final table instead finished early Monday morning as WPT500 winner Sean Yu earned his first WSOPC ring, earning $101,881 and a seat at the 2015 WSOP National Championship.

While the field was smaller than usual for a WSOP Circuit Main Event, several notables earned a visit to the cashier including November Niner Soi Nguyen (24th), Bernard Lee (26th) and WSOP bracelet winners Jordan Morgan and Eric Baldwin (29th and 30th respectively.
One WSOP bracelet winner remained at the start of the final table, but Brandon Paster was the first elimination, in ninth place. After an opening raise by John Cynn, Paster three-bet, followed by Sean Yu four-betting. The first player earning a five-figure score was Gary Sewell in eighth place when his pocket fours ran into the pocket aces of Neil Scott in a blind v blind confrontation. The board ran out with neither player improving as Sewell hit the rail.

Seventh place went to John Cynn, who turned two pair against Yu’s flopped flush when Cynn’s chips went into the middle. Sixth place went to Tavish Margers against.The flurry of bustouts continued with the elimination of Jacob Grundy in 5th place, Sean Yu continued to steamroll the final table when he sent David Powers to the rail.
Down to three-handed and after ten levels of play, the tournament staff asked the remaining players if they wanted to play two more levels or return Monday afternoon. The trio agreed to play on as Yu was the overwhelming chip leader. Neil Scott doubled through Yu to narrow his chip lead, but two hands later he was out in third.
The 2014/2015 WSOP Circuit continues at Harrah’s Atlantic City from now through Dec. 22.
