Marcos Rojo reveals transfer conversations with Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani amid Boca Juniors

Marcos Rojo has revealed that Edinson Cavani is ‘interested’ in playing for Boca Juniors.

Despite making a strong start to life in the Premier League,Cavani’s future at Manchester United is in doubt after just a single campaign.

The veteran striker joined the club following his release from Paris Saint-Germain last summer on a one-year deal with the option of a further year, but the extension has not yet been activated and won’t be unless both parties are happy to continue.

Cavani’s father claimed that his son ‘does not feel comfortable’ in Manchester last month and touted a return to South America so he can be closer to his family, with Argentine giants Boca being the ideal destination.

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again,”

“Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. Edinson had many talks with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca.

“He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.”

Former United defender Rojo completed his own move to Boca in the January transfer window and has detailed conversations he has had with Cavani regarding the Uruguayan also making the move.

“I talk a lot with Cavani,” Rojo told  ESPN. “We were together for about four or five months in Manchester but he’s a great person and we have a good relationship.

“When I came here he asked how I was doing, if I was having a good time, because he saw everything I went through in England.

“It’s important that great players, the size of Cavani, who is a historical player from Uruguay and who played in very great teams, say they want to come and play at Boca

“I think he speaks very well of the club and Argentine football.

“When I told him that there was the possibility of coming to Boca, he told me that he had also spoken with Roman and that he liked the option very much, that he would be interested in the future. “He has to make that decision with his family.”
