(pokernews.com) – Season 5 of the PokerStars UKIPT concluded on Monday night when Lithuania’s Vladas Tamasauskas found himself with every one of the 25,050,000 chips in play in front of him, which meant he became the UKIPT Dublin Main Event champion.

The 1,002 entrants were reduced to the final table of eight over the course of two starting flights and two more days of high-octane poker action. Only the top 152 finishers received prize money for their efforts, with the likes of Kenny Hallaert, Chris Dowling, Antoine Saout, Charlie Carrel, Dara O’Kearney, Brett Angell, Andrew Chen, Patrick Leonard, Dan Carter, Kevin Killeen, Paul Romain, and Adam Owen busting in the money.
Seven different nationalities were present at the eight-handed final table, showing off the draw that the UKIPT has on the poker world. Marc Foggin of the United Kingdom was the first player to bust from the final table approximately 40 minutes into action, but then, despite relentless action, it took two hours before there was another casualty. Jelcides Monteiro was the one to go in seventh place, busting to Irishman Dave Pollock.
Next up on the UKIPT is the Season 6 opener in London. April 5-10 are the dates you need to keep free if you’re planning on following in Tamasauskas’ footsteps and becoming a UKIPT champion, and £770 is what you’ll need to buy in, unless you manage to satellite into the Hippodrome Casino-based event for as little as £1.10.
