The return of Floyd “Money” Mayweather will have to wait — for now.
His much-anticipated exhibition fight initially set for Feb. 20 versus YouTube personality Logan Paul has been postponed to a later date, according to Fanmio founder and CEO Solomon Engel.
“After an absolutely tremendous response to the fight announcement, we’re hoping to announce a new date very soon along with some new exciting details,” Engel said in a statement.
The bizarre bout was scheduled for February 20 but, according to YouTube star Paul, will no longer happen on that date due to “business complications”.
Fanmio — an online platform that connects fans with celebrities through online fan experiences — was set to host the event with Paul, which would also get streamed on pay-per-view.
In several Instagram posts Wednesday, Mayweather laid out his plans for 2021, starting with the exhibition with Paul.
Mayweather wrote he wants to face Paul’s younger brother, Jake, in another exhibition if Jake can defeat former UFC fighter Ben Askren in their April boxing match. Also on Mayweather’s planned agenda this year: an exhibition match in Tokyo, similar to the one he fought in 2018 versus blue-chip kickboxing prospect Tenshin Nasukawa, and a potential exhibition against rapper 50 Cent.
“I don’t care about weight class with any of these guys,” Mayweather wrote Wednesday. “The Paul brothers will make great money with the events, but with 50 cent It has to be ‘Winner Take All.'”
Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) was entering the ring for the first time since 2018, where he stopped kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve. Prior to that, he beat former UFC champion Conor McGregor in 2017.
In 2019, Paul (0-1) suffered a split decision loss to fellow YouTube personality KSI in a six-round cruiserweight bout.
