David Gutfruend has made Heartland Poker Tour final tables before, three in fact, but he was always the bridesmaid and never the bride, but that all changed at the Season X Finale at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort after he navigated a tough final table and won his first HPT title and $156,649.
The Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) recently completed its tenth season at theSoaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. The HPT Season X Championship $1,650 Main Event attracted 465 entries and created a prize pool of $666,600.

Gutfruend arrived at the final second in chips, but he was overshadowed by Michigan native and 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Champ Joe Cada. Also at the final table was the first mother/son tandem the HPT has ever seen at a final table with Daytona Beach winner Vincent Fiorenza and his mother Toni.
Rounding out the final table was two-time HPT Champ Shawn Reginald Roberts, Cuong Tran,James Wetherell, Mike O’Neil and Yaroob Kaskorkis.
